For most truck drivers taking a cdl truck driver-training course is an excellent way of preparing for a truck driving job and for anyone trying to obtain a commercial driver's license. Some high school and college courses offer cdl truck driver training. Automotive mechanics would be very helpful in the trucking business. Trucking companies that offer training to new truck drivers is usually informal, and may only consist of 1-2 days of instruction from an experienced driver / trainer, sometimes with minimal pay or even the on new drivers own time.
